North Notes
Spokane North Rotary Club Bulletin
February 13, 2017

Briefly:

Lenore shared her email with Bill Hiatt, who appears to be doing well.

Michelle Fossum reported that her husband, Spokane Valley Rotarian Terry Fossum, was a contestant on the Fox reality TV show Kicking and Screaming as a survival expert.  The show begins airing on March 9 at 9:00 p.m., and there will be watch parties at the Max Restaurant at Mirabeau Hotel in the Spokane Valley for as long as he survives on the show.

Loving People Well

Sabrina Slater took the club along on her inspirational journey across several countries in her quest to find the best way to fulfill her own spiritual calling to love people well.

Sabrina graduated from Ferris High School, attended Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, had a Fellowship from Princeton Theological Seminary and attended the Bossey Ecumenical Institute in Switzerland.

She had the opportunity to visit the Vatican for a week, where she met the Pope and asked if he would dance with her group, eliciting a smile and a laugh from the Pope.

She participated in a thirty-day silent retreat and walked across Spain as part of the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage in which she walked between ten and thirty miles each day carrying a pack of her belongings on her back.

She visited many countries, including Fiji, Australia, Switzerland, and Spain.

Through her experiences, she learned that loving people well can be messy at times, because people are messy.  She is pursuing her ordination, and hopes to be working a church as a pastor in the near future.
