Briefly:
Positions open: President Steve Bergman said the club needs to fill two board positions – President-elect and Secretary.

1st quarter: ‘Challenging, interesting’

Despite the Covid-19 crisis which has curtailed so many gatherings, including Rotary meetings, a number of accomplishments were noted in the July-August quarter, said President Steve Bergman.

In his Oct. 5 Zoom-luncheon, Bergman cited members’ involvement in the Food for Kidz packaging project, the annual supplies storage project at Holmes Elementary School and this last month, the Ridgeview delivery food project.
Bergman said when his daughter dropped the Kindergarten Packet at the door in one stop, the wide-eyed kindergartner watching from the front window seemed “like the happiest kid I’ve ever seen.” He  added: “It made my day.”

Melinda Keberle said the Ridgeview project will continue a few more weeks, starting at 3 p.m. on Fridays.

Bergman said Zoom speaker programs, including Youth for Christ and Cancer Can’t, were well received.

In International Service, the club donated $500 in joining the district-wide effort in the Peru water project spearheaded by Bill Fury of the Castlegar Club.

The club “is in good financial shape, all things considering,” Bergman said. He said results were good for an on-line request for donations and a second request may come soon to help for scholarships and other expenses.

Treasurer Bill Simer said the club’s charitable fund is working smoothly now, adding, “I have a high trust level” about the fund.

Sandy Fink agreed that “it (the fund) works.  I encourage it.”

Bergman said there have been “a few hiccups” in the new club year, including openings in key director positions of president-elect and now secretary, where MichelleFossum is stepping down several months.
